Why Ostrava

01 — The city

A skyline built by fire

Ostrava's history runs on mining and metalworking, and nowhere shows it better than Dolní Vítkovice — the old ironworks turned cultural landmark. It's free to wander the grounds and the old blast furnace structures; climbing the tower for the view runs about 300 CZK. A few good cafés have set up inside the industrial buildings, worth a stop after a round.

In town, Masarykovo náměstí is the main square — small, quiet, and easy to walk. For an evening, the city's café scene holds its own against the rest of the country; worth seeking out a proper coffee before an early tee time.

02 — The ground

Fairways in the foothills

Every course on this circuit sits in or beneath the Beskydy Mountains — Lysá hora and Smrk on the horizon, ridgelines behind nearly every green. It's mountain golf without the altitude penalty: parkland conditioning, alpine views, and courses close enough together that you're never more than an hour from the next tee time.

The trip closes on the opposite end of the country, on the tour-pedigree courses ringing Prague — a genuine change of scenery to finish the week.
